Movement Clinics (on top rope)

Tuesdays 6:00pm – 9:00pm

Fridays 7:00pm – 8:30pm

( feel free to walk in anytime if you are certified for top rope belaying)

Taught by Nicole Mannarino

The main incentive of this class is to aid the individual in developing a more efficient climbing style. We will do this through enhancing technical skills, overall strength and flexibility, and enhancing psychological control.

"It is a space for one to gain physical strength, dexterity, expand perceptual approaches to climbing, address and possibly overcome fears, and meet other climbers at MPHC. I believe that physical practices have the potential to awaken and enliven oneself. Climbing provides a great container to conquer physical and mental challenges, giving one the opportunity to use the skills and experiences gained in many other circumstances"N.M

Nicole Mannarino has climbed on many different rock morphologies and has come to understand the importance of having a well-rounded technical base in order to tackle the complexities of climbing.

Her dance background provides a different perspective on movement and body awareness that will be complimentary to any climber that looks for efficiency on the wall.

Introduction to climbing ( co-ed)

Thursdays 7:00pm-8:00pm

Rock climbing can be a frustrating and intimidating sport to get into if you don't have someone to guide you through the ins and outs of climbing.  Aika is here to be your guide and develop your climbing skills to make it a much more productive and enjoyable activity.

During each clinic Aika will assess your individual climbing ability and create an activity or exercise based on your strengths and weaknesses in order to push you to the next level.

Whether you are a beginner or an experienced climber this a great way to make friends and feel confident next time you come to the gym!

Co-ed Bouldering Clinic

Wednesdays 7:30pm – 8:30pm
Taught by Christopher Lopez

New to the sport of bouldering? Want to take your climbing to the next level? Stuck on that one cave problem? Come join us for our weekly Co-ed Bouldering Clinics, held every Wednesday evening in MPHC’s extensive bouldering room.

We’ll cover techniques for every skill set and level, as well as basics of bouldering safety and training.

Christopher Lopez has been climbing since the spring of 2010. Bouldering is his preferred style of climbing, having climbed in various different areas throughout New York as well as taking trips to Joe’s Valley, Utah and The Stone Fort in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

His dedication to the sport and teachings on bouldering at his local climbing gym has made him a mainstay in the New York City climbing community. He was recently featured in the newly released NYC Bouldering Guidebook sending “The Scratching Post,” a V3 boulder problem on Cat Rock in Central Park.

  • All clinics are free for members and day pass climbers!
